We’re Going to Universe Bitches! It’s Grind Time!

If you didn’t see my show day update from Pittsburgh this weekend, I got the NQ baby!!! I came into this show with my head held high. I was confident, I was rocking my new badass Ravish suit, and I knew what I needed. I needed that top 2 spot to get to Teaneck, and that’s exactly what I got. I placed 2nd in both my Novice and Open class (same girls in both), and got to bring home my first set of SWORDS! That’s right, mutha fuckin swords, y’all! I’ve been wanting to win a sword for 3 years, ever since I won my overall at the Midwestern States Championships and they were only awarding the men swords, I was like, “Hey, I want one of those.” I never ended up doing shows who awarded them, but them being at this show was a pleasant surprise, and the cherry on top of the weekend.

I have been blessed to have been in first call outs all 3 weekends I have competed this year, and I am pushing for top 10 at Team U in 12 days. I have only done one other National Show before (Jr. Nats last year), and I was in last call outs. I was not conditioned enough for a national stage that season, and I know that. But this year, I am bringing a whole new package.

I know, I know, I honestly hate when I hear girls say that too, because how much can you alter your physique in one season, really? (provided that you only took about 6 months or less in an off season, before cutting and prepping again).

But when I say “a new package”, I mean A NEW PACKAGE. Not only have I brought my conditioning to a new level, I’ve brought the best ratios I’ve had to date. My glutes are fuller, and my waist is tighter. I’m bringing a new look with my straight black hair, rather than my curly brown. It looks sleeker, and more confident in my opinion. Along with the black hair, my suit colors this year have been out of the ordinary, which was my plan of attack for this season; to STAND OUT. My bright purple mermaid suit was striking on stage with the offset of my black hair, and judges and competitors noticed. This past weekend when I revealed my silver/black dragon suit, I had competitors, parents, and bystanders come up to me to tell me how much they loved my suit, and how different it was.

Like I said, my plan is to stand out. When I walk on that stage, I want those judges to be like, wow, she is striking. The overall package goes way beyond just your physique, that should be a given in this sport. Your stage “look” and appearance need to not only be appealing to the eye, but it needs to look like you give a shit. Your hair, your makeup, your tan, your suit, your smile, your attitude, they want the whole shebang. If you don’t know how to fix your hair, get a professional to help you out. Same for makeup. If you think you’re good at makeup because you did your sister’s for her prom, think twice. Stage makeup is harder, more dramatic, thicker, and darker than you think. You don’t want to look like a clown up there with solid blue eye shadow and red lips. If you don’t know what you’re doing, get a professional, the judges will thank you for it. Find your “look,” and rock the shit out of it.

The plan of attack for this week is to grind back down on the low carb train, so that we can increase a tad into the show for peak week. My cardio is back up to 15 minutes of HIIT and 60 minutes of LISS, so it’s looking like I’ll get through the rest of season 3 of Shameless this week haha. But what I am most excited about is my workouts! With 3 peak weeks in a row, my workouts have been on the lighter, shorter side. With this week in between, I’m finally able to get back to some “heavy” shit. And by heavy shit, I mean very below average, because I’m a bowl of weak sauce right now, but you know, its all relative. ๐Ÿ˜‰ hahaha.

This past week I hit a new low of 136 lbs for this show, and we’re hoping to come in even leaner in two weeks. I woke up this morning around 141 lbs, which wasn’t surprising to me. The last two shows I’ve shot up about 4-5 lbs post show, then quickly dropped that excess weight within a couple days. I had an amazing post show meal of sushi and filet mignon hibachi. Then the next morning had Cracker Barrel biscuits and gravy, and dumplings. All these extra carbs and sodium spikes, on top of me starting my period this morning are all likely culprits of the weight gain. But it should go back down in a day or two, especially with my lower intake and higher cardio this week.

Thank you to all y’all who have been following my journey this year and maybe even through the entirety. I greatly appreciate you and all the good vibes y’all have been throwing my way. Let’s keep it rolling into Team Universe!

Here’s some sweet pics of my swords from the weekend. Stay tuned for more updates.
